The Mentoring Programme at Warrington Youth Club provides Volunteer Mentor support for vulnerable and at risk children and young people aged between 7 and 15 years old.
It increases confidence, self-esteem and supports the child/young person to make positive choices through 1:1 support, befriending and fun activities. Over the course of the next 3 years, 175 children and young people from across Warrington will benefit from this service.
We are looking for a new team of Volunteer Mentors to act as role models, to support a young person through what can be a difficult stage in their life, inspire them to achieve, and encourage them to develop, grow, and learn new things. Mentors must be over the age of 18 years and be able to commit to meet with a young person for 1-2 hours per week for approximately 12months.
No experience is necessary as full training will be given to all Mentors prior to being matched with a suitable young person. Training will include:
- Introduction to Mentoring
- Child Protection & Safeguarding
- Professional Boundaries
- Action Planning & Goal Setting
- Communication Skills
- Understanding Children & Young People
All Mentors will be supported and supervised throughout their journey with Warrington Youth Club and a written reference will be given after 12 months service.
This opportunity is not only a personally rewarding one, but it is a great way to enhance your skill set, explore new career options and improve employability.
