WYC Shortlisted for two Active Cheshire Awards!

WYC are pleased to announce that we have been shortlisted for two separate Active Cheshire Superhero Awards

The annual awards event, which is held at Chester Racecourse, looks to celebrate the contribution of unsung individuals and organisations that have inspired young people to move more, no matter how big or small.

WYC’s Junction Gym has been shortlisted for the Active Kids category, which celebrates ‘heroes’ that have helped to get young people up to age 11 more active, and the Community Sport category, with WYC’s universal sporting offer being praised for getting young people from under-represented groups more active and playing sport through the Youth Club and Junction Gym.

The Junction Gym’s junior session works with young people aged 7-12 with the aim of getting them to be more active. Young people attending the session are fully supervised and encouraged to try out new challenges and exercises in our fully equipped gym. The junior gym session runs each Saturday morning from 10am-12pm.

The Youth Club’s sporting offer, which has also been shortlisted by Active Cheshire, runs from Monday to Thursday at the Peace Centre and incorporates sports such as Tennis, Football, Cricket and Dodgeball, working with over 200 different young people each week.

The full list of shortlisted individuals and organisations can be found here, with winners being announced on Wednesday 25th September.
