Work for Onside Warrington Youth Club
Thank you for your interest in working with WYC.
The Mentoring Programme at OnSide WYC was established in 2015 and provides volunteer mentor support to vulnerable and at risk children and young people aged between 7 and 19 years old. It increases confidence, self-esteem and supports the child/young person to make positive choices through 1:1 support, befriending and fun activities. Over the last 5 years, over 300 children and young people from across Warrington have benefited from this service.
We are looking for a new team of Volunteer Mentors to act as role models and to support a young person through a difficult stage in their lives. Mentors must be age 19 years or older and be able to commit to meet with a young person for 1-2 hours per week for a number of pre-agreed months. With have various programmes at the club with 3-12 months’ time frame dependant on the commitment you can give.
No experience is necessary as full training will be given to all Mentors prior to being matched with a suitable young person. Training will include:
- Introduction to Mentoring
- Child Protection & Safeguarding
- Professional Boundaries
- Action Planning & Goal Setting
- Communication Skills
- Understanding Children & Young People
All Mentors will be supported and supervised throughout their journey with WYC and a written reference will be given after 12 months service.
This opportunity is not only a personally rewarding one, but it is a great way to enhance your skill set, explore new career options and improve your own employability.
Training dates are available throughout the year.
