NCS Autumn Graduation

Whilst most people are getting ready for Christmas, WYC’s NCS team were preparing for the Autumn 2019 Graduation ceremony, to celebrate to achievements of the 67 young people completing the programme.

Warrington Youth Club NCSOur venue for the Graduation on Monday 16th December was The Orford Jubilee Suite, which was decorated specially for the occasion by the WYC team.

Phil McNicholl, NCS Delivery Manager was our compere for the night, and throughout the evening young people from across Warrington spoke of their experiences of NCS.

Firstly they talked about The Open Door Adventure residential and recounted tales of the activities, how they met new people, bonded and made friends.

Then the young people discussed how they had worked with companies and services in Warrington including Cheshire Police, Gulliver’s World, Jacob’s and River Reeves Foundation.

Next we heard about the social action projects and the amazing work they undertook.  Over the last two months they worked at Warrington General to donate presents for children in hospital over Christmas and worked with Room at the Inn to provide more for homeless people and reduce stigma around homelessness.

Tom Stow, one of our graduates spoke about his journey and how undertaking NCS and his social action project around homelessness made him think about how lucky he is and how not to take material things for granted.

The official presentation part of evening was brought to a close by Phil McNicholl who toasted thanks to everyone who attended.

The party followed where the young people danced the night away, with the highlight being the a Beyonce Single Ladies dance off!
