The Girls Group programme recently received a grant of £6,000 from the Inspiring Young Women Foundation to continue our project work in 2019.
This Foundation was set up using funds raised at the annual Inspiring Women Awards founded by Jacqueline Hughes-Lundy.
An example of how the Girls Group programme can benefit young women in Warrington can be seen in this short video featuring Imogen. This video was shown at the Inspiring Women Awards 2019 held in Manchester on 10th May and was attended by the WYC team.
Our Girls Group recently took part in the Women’s Vote project that explored links with inspirational female leaders from business, sports and arts. Local women from the Warrington and North West region supported the project by delivering experiential talks. This had a profound effect on improving positivity, outlook and aspirations for the future of young women who are vulnerable. Interaction with women, who have overcome a range of challenges to achieve success, has left the participants feeling incredibly empowered and with a new determination for the future.
Thank you to Inspiring Young Women Foundation for their support and we look forward to continuing to work with them in the future and thank you to OnSide Youth Zones and Clear Presentations for producing the video.
